  • Update information November 2019: Feedback from stakeholders indicates that Orthopaedic Data Evaluation Panel ratings for femoral stems are inaccurate. NICE will review the evidence and make new recommendations on choice of implant. In the meantime, we have deleted reference to the ratings from recommendation 1.6.4. May 2017. NICE has made new recommendations on hip replacements for patients with a displaced intracapsular fracture. In addition, a footnote has been added to recommendation 4.2.6 on cemented implants to highlight safety guidance. The recommendations in this guideline on pages 34, 37, 107, 108 and 109 that are marked with grey shading have been replaced.
