Regulation of initiation of coagulation by TFPI. The subcellular targeting of the inhibitor to glycosphingolipid-rich rafts allows for reversible regulation of TF on the cell surface. TFPI at higher concentrations can also bind to transmembrane proteoglycan receptors that facilitate LRP-mediated uptake and degradation by the clathrin-coated pits pathway.
