Hypothetical thermal nociception circuit. We hypothesize that the low-threshold type of thermosensory neuron (top trace) drives inhibition of a rolling locomotion pattern generator. The high-threshold type (bottom trace) should simultaneously activate rolling locomotion and drive inhibition of normal locomotion.
