Viral alteration of immunomodulatory proteins. Through the down regulation of multiple immunomodulatory proteins both KSHV and EBV are able to alter the ability of innate and adaptive immune effectors to recognize and mount responses against virally infected cells. Diagramed are some of the cellular proteins altered by viral gene products and their binding partners. The viral proteins and their targets are listed in the tables below the diagram. Details of the interactions are given in the text.
