The membrane currents elicited by GABA application (left) contain both transient and sustained components, indicating both GABAA and GABAC receptors are present. In the pesence of bicuculline, GABAA receptor activity is inhibited, revealing sustained GABA responses mediated by GABAC receptors (right).
