Desulfovibrio desulfuricans strain G20. This organism is a spontaneous nalidixic acid-resistant derivative of a wild-type strain (G100A) that was isolated from an oil well corrosion site. It has been cured of a 2.3 Kb cryptic plasmid as well. This organism is one of the few extensively studied sulfate-reducing bacteria.
