New FTP Hierarchy Simplifies Data Downloads

The NCBI FTP Web site has been reorganized to provide more direct access to a number of popular datasets. To see the new site structure, click on the FTP link on the NCBI home page. Two of the many new direct links to FTP directories are: “Genome Assembly/Annotation Projects”, for access to complete genomes/chromosomes, contigs and reference sequences; and “RefSeq” for the full release or daily updates of the RefSeq database. Access NCBI’s FTP site by anonymous FTP at: ftp.ncbi.nih.gov
