Enterococcus faecium E1679 was isolated from a vascular catheter tip in 1998 in Brazil. This strain has MLST sequence type (ST) 114 and is vancomycin resistant. DNA and bacteria can be obtained from Dr. Rob Willems and Dr. Willem van Schaik.
