Specimen stained with 3 % PTA. Primary magnification 100,000 x Micrographs were taken with a Siemens 102 electron mircoscope operated at 100 kV. Human immunodeffiency virus 1 isolated from a white blood cell culture obtain in June 1993 from a "healthy" contact person. The white blood cells were separated immediately from the whole blood, stimmulated with Phytohaemagglutinin and incubated for 2 days. The white blood cells were burst with 3% PTA to release the virus. Inset shows the core of an immature virus. |
