Surface capsomer arrangement not obvious. 32 capsomers per nucleocapsid.

Buoyant density 1.333-1.367-1.399 g cm-3 in CsCl. One sedimenting component in purified preparations. Sedimentation coefficient 99-118.6-136 S. Isoelectric point pH 4.5. A260/A280 ratio 1.61. TIP: 80-87.5-95 °C. LIV: 7-46.83-63 days. DEP: log10 minus 4 (1), or 7 (1), or 9-10 (1). Infectivity retained when deproteinised with phenol or detergent (1/1).
