Classification

This is a description of an invertebrate virus at the isolate level.

ICTVdB Virus Code: 00.101.0.81.023.00.001. Virus accession number: 42B07324.
NCBI Taxonomy Identifier Taxon ID: 294369.

Name, Synonyms and Lineage

Acronym(s): SINV-1. Virus is assigned to the 00.101.0.81.023. Solenopsis invicta viris-1. Virus is of the genus 00.101.0.01. Cripavirus in the family 00.101. Dicistroviridae.

Virion Properties

Morphology

Only one species is recovered in preparations.

Nucleic Acid

The genome is not segmented and contains a single molecule of linear positive-sense, single-stranded RNA. Sequence can be accessed from GenBank. The RNA is fully sequenced, complete sequence is 8026 nucleotides long. Sequence has the accession number [AY634314], and the NCBI reference genome has the accession number
[NC_006559]. The genome has a virus coded terminal protein which is presumably covalently linked to the 5'-end of positive-sense strand (but has not been determined). Nucleotide sequences at the 3'-terminus are unrelated to the 5'-terminus. The 5'-end of the genome has a presumably genome-linked protein (VPg) (but has not been determined). The 3'-terminus has a poly (A) tract of variable lenght.
