Name, Synonyms and Lineage

Virus is the type species of the genus Allolevirus; family 00.037. Leviviridae.

Virion Properties

Morphology

Phages consist of a capsid and are not enveloped. Virions are not tailed. Capsid/nucleocapsid is round and exhibits icosahedral symmetry. The isometric capsid has a diameter of 24-26 nm. The capsid consists of 32 capsomers.

Capsid structures, detailed structural and computational analysis are found in the Protein Data Bank (PDB) using VIPERdB, the VIrus Particle ExploreR 1Qβe.

Nucleic Acid

The Mr of the genome constitutes 31% of the virion by weight. The genome is not segmented and contains a single molecule of linear positive-sense, single-stranded RNA. The complete genome is 4218 nucleotides long. The genome has a base ratio of 50 % guanine; 50 % adenine; 50 % cytosine; 50 % uracil.

GenBank records for nucleotide sequences; complete genome sequences.

Lipids

Lipids are not reported.
