This data set deals with the description of plant viruses that have been compiled as part of the
Virus Identification Data Exchange (VIDE) project.
VIDE has been developed by A.J. Gibbs of the Australian National University,
Research School of Biological Sciences over the last twenty years.
The complete set of plant virus descriptions can be either viewed in its original form at VIDEdB or at ICTVdB.
On this page we have displayed only the Australian specific data on plant viruses, their distribution,
host plants, vectors and agricultural aspects.

In September 2002, this site has been removed from its original location at the Research School of Biological Sciences, where it has been located
since 1993, right at the dawn of the existence of the internet. The life server at RSBS was the third web server in the world after CERN
and Brazil. "Viruses of Plants in Australia" was one of the first web sites established in the history of cyberspace.
