Finding compounds by pharmacological
action: Lipoxygenase inhibitors |
Goals
- Find all lipophilic lipoxygenase inhibitors (XlogP > 0)
- Rank these compounds by increasing molecular weight
Steps
- Open Preview/Index in PubChem Compound
- On the NCBI home page, choose PubChem Compound from the Database menu.
- Click Go, leaving the search box blank.
- Click the Preview/Index tab.
- Limit by Pharmacological Action
- In the All Fields menu, choose PharmAction.
- In the text box to the right, type lipoxygenase.
- Click the Index button.
- Click lipoxygenase inhibitors from the list, and then the AND button.
- Limit the set by XlogP
- Click the Limits tab to the left of Preview/Index.
- In the XlogP From/To boxes, enter 0 and 20 respectively.
- Click Go.
- Click the Details tab to see how Entrez accomplished the XlogP limit. Look under User
Query to see what you could have typed.
- Sort the compounds by increasing molecular weight
- In the Sort by menu, choose MW(up).
