   Finding BioAssay Data: Gaucher Disease

Goals

  • Find bioassays relevant to Gaucher Disease
  • Locate the linked gene record involved in Gaucher Disease
  • Download active compounds in all relevant bioassays

Steps

  1. Search OMIM to find a phenotype record
    • On the NCBI home page, choose OMIM from the Database menu.
    • Type "gaucher disease" in the search box (use the double quotes!).
    • Click Go.

  2. Limit to records with BioAssay data
    • Click the Preview/Index tab above the record summaries.
    • Choose Filter from the All Fields menu.
    • Type omim in the text box to the right and click Index.
    • Click omim pcassay and then AND.
    • Click Go.

  3. Link to Gene
    • Choose Gene Links in the Display menu.
    • Click the gene symbol to review the gene annotation.
    • Click OMIM in the Links menu to the right to return to OMIM.

  4. Link to PubChem BioAssay
    • Choose PubChem BioAssay Links in the Display menu.

  5. Link to active compounds in all assays
    • Choose PubChem Compounds, Active in the Display menu.
    • Choose PubChem Download in the Display menu, and choose a data format.
    • Click Download to retrieve the data.
