Jennifer Lyon completed her Master of Science degree in Molecular Biology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1993. Her Master's thesis concerned the immunology of avian influenza virus. She then worked for the biotechnology company, Novagen, Inc., as a technical service representative and bench scientist from 1993-1997. Her duties included protein expression in bacteria, protein purification, bacterial culture, genomic library construction, DNA cloning, and other laboratory techniques. In 1998, after a year's sabbatical, Jennifer returned to graduate school, earning a Master of Library and Information Studies from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro in December of 1999. In 2000, she completed an Internship in Medical Librarianship at Eskind Biomedical Library (EBL) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Presently, she is serving as the Coordinator of the Research Informatics Consult Service at EBL. A primary focus of her job is to provide bioinformatics support to research personnel.
