Nicola Gaedeke
earned a Ph.D. in molecular biology at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology
(Golm, Germany). As a postdoctoral research scientist at the institute, she persued her
interest in bioscientific information management. Dr. Gaedeke established the Bioinformatics
User Support Service for the scientific community of the University of Utah (USA) at the
Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library, Salt Lake City in 2000-2002, developing and
teaching classes on molecular biology data mining and analysis tools. Upon returning to
Germany, she founded the
www.biotools.info service.
Since 2005 Nicola Gaedeke has established a Bioinformatics Support Network among
Max-Planck-Institutes in close collaboration with the Information Retrieval Services of
the Bio-Medical Section of the MPG.
