This course provides only a brief introduction to each topic, with references for further learning. It is designed to give a big picture of the resources available and some general experience with the comprehensive, most commonly used databases. Regular usage of the resources will lead to greater familiarity with the databases and search systems.

A list of past courses is available. The course was given at 24 locations between May 1997 and November 2001.

Due to the quantity and breadth of information covered, the course has been revised and expanded to include additional hands-on components and coverage of additional, new key resources. As of November 2002, this 8-hour course has been replaced by a revised and expanded 3-day introductory course.
