Gene Expression Profiles of Different Organs

A muscle cell, a skin cell, and a nerve cell, could be distinguished by their gene expression profiles.

Some genes are turned on only in a specific organ. For example, Gene B is turned on only in skin cells.

Other genes, such as A and C, are turned on in multiple organs, but expressed at different levels.

More:  The UniGene Digital Differential Display (DDD) allows you to do comparisons of actual gene expression profiles. Follow the "Try This" examples given in the UniGene DDD guide for different organs of the body.
