Representative rather than comprehensive information for a gene
Entrez Gene records provide representative rather than comprehensive information for a locus. For example, the list of references provided for a locus is intended to provide a selective rather than exhaustive list of articles that describe salient information about the gene. Additional information can easily be retrieved by following the links to the various Entrez databases, then displaying additional, "related records" within a database.
That is also true for the sequence records listed in an Entrez Gene record, which are a representative rather than exhaustive set of sequences. The "related sequences" function can then be used to retrieve additional records.
So gene-centered databases provide an ideal starting point for quickly obtaining a wide range of generally high quality information about a gene of interest.
