In the next few slides, we will discuss the relationships between the four
records below, and the differences between them. All of the records contain
sequence data for the human MLH1 gene, associated with colon cancer.
Progress through these records one at a time. Start with U07343,
then continue to use the next slide buttons to proceed through the rest of
the sample records.
First you will view the primary (archival) nucleotide and protein
sequence records, and then the corresponding Reference (curated)
sequence records. Observe the similarities and differences between them.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The records featured in this module were deliberately captured
as static images to save a snapshot of the records in time and discuss the relationship
among them. Links to corresponding live records in Entrez are also provided,
but only as a convenient reference for use after the static versions of the
records have been reviewed. The live records are the most recent versions and provide
a good example of how sequence records evolve over time. Past versions of sequence
records can also be retrieved using the
Sequence Revision History tool in Entrez.
