Michele R. Tennant
is the Bioinformatics Librarian with the University
of Florida's Health Science Center Libraries and Genetics Institute.
She completed her Ph.D. in biology in 1991, using DNA and protein
techniques to discern the genealogical relationships among woodpeckers,
and her M.L.I.S. at U.C.L.A. in 1994. She is an experienced teacher,
providing instruction to undergraduates, graduate students, research
faculty, clinicians and librarians. Tennant is a member NCBI's Educollab
team, which created the educational materials for the 40-hr NCBI
Advanced Workshop for Bioinformatics Information Specialists. She
currently has three other CE courses approved by MLA - "Molecular
Biology and Genetics for Librarians", "Genomics, Proteomics, and
Bioinformatics for Librarians" and "Bridging the Molecular Gap:
Understanding and Identifying the Standard Protocols and Experiments for
Molecular Biology". Tennant also presented "Bioinformatics Librarian
Services at the University of Florida" at MLA's Informationist
Conference IN 2002.
