After finishing my doctorate in biology at Penn State University in August 2007, I was offered the opportunity to continue my research at one of the most well-known institutes on the NIH campus, the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). Therefore, in September 2007 I joined Ivan Ovcharenko's group and effort to advance the knowledge of gene regulation at genomic scale, bringing with me a particular interest in how transposable elements contribute to this aspect.
