I am interested in various problems in evolutinoary genomics. Among the
topics that I investigate are evolution of gene architecture in eukaryotes.
I would like to reveal the functions conveyed by the unique fragmented
architecture of eukaryotic genes, with special emphasis on the cellular
regulatory machinery. I would also like to understand the evolutionary
forces that have led to the wealth of architectures seen across the
eukaryotic domain. At the system level, I believe that adding gene
architecture as a key element in whole-genome studies, and understanding
its interplay with other genic phenotypes, is a crucial issue.
I am also interested in the connections between phenotypic and evlutionary
properties of genes; in deciding between competing phylogenetic topologies;
and in other analyses of genic and genomic properties.
