*Bankit Release Notes Version 3.0

Bankit version 3.0 parser ver.04 will be available to the public on 13 December, 1999.

This version contains several changes from the previous version:

  1. Author names are now fielded in separate boxes for first name, middle initial, and last name.
  2. Intervals for all features are now fielded in separate boxes for start and stop nucleotides.
  3. A menu of Source feature modifiers is now available.
  4. Choosing a specific release date is now by menus for month, day, and year.
  5. Links to the top and bottom of the Bankit form and to a new help document have been added to the top of each of the form's sections.
  6. Links for the list of Contents of the Bankit submission have been added to the top of the form
  7. New 'Save Form,' 'Validate and Continue,' and 'Review and Submit' buttons have replaced the previous 'Save' and 'Continue Bankit' buttons.
  8. Bankit will now suggest a coding region's (CDS's) intervals from a nucleotide sequence and a corresponding amino acid sequence if no intervals are provided.
  9. Bankit will also produce a conceptual translation of an amino acid sequence if the CDS intervals are provided for a nucleotide sequence; if an amino acid sequence was already provided, Bankit will compare the two and note any differences.
  10. Sequences submitted through Bankit are now checked for vector contamination at the time of submission through VecScreen, and the submitter will be given the opportunity to remove any contaminating vector sequence, to specify if the sequence is a cloning vector, or to explain the contaminating presence in the submitted sequence.
  11. Bankit now incorporates a more robust validation of the sequence submission and reports a larger group a specific errors for the submitter to correct or explain.
  12. The errors reported to the submitter are now links to the Bankit associated form section or Bankit feature in question
  13. .
  14. BankIt Update form now includes the option to choose either an immediate release date or a specific hold date for updated information.
  15. Added "back" button to key locations.

  17. The 'Submission Examples' link on the sidebar accesses a list of example sequence submissions and the information/features that should be provided when submitting specific types of sequences.

BankIt has been successfully tested with these clients:
  • Netscape for Unix, Macintosh, and Windows
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer
