8/22 100 Gigabases in GenBenk GenBank and its collaborating databases, EMBL and DDBJ, have reached a milestone of 100 billion bases from over 165,000 organisms. See the press release for additional information.

6/29 Flu Dataset Explorer The Flu Dataset Explorer provides an easy and interactive way to perform preliminary analysis on protein and nucleotide sequences from the NCBI Influenza Sequence Database, or a user's file.

6/10 Probe The new Entrez Probe database stores molecular probe data together with information on success or failure of the probes in different experimental contexts.

6/9 Splign Splign (Spliced Alignment) is a newly released utility for computing cDNA-to-genomic spliced sequence alignments on a variation of the Needleman-Wunsch algorithm combined with Blast for compartment detection and greater performance.

6/1 gMap gMap, a new genome comparison tool, provides pre-computed whole genome comparison of related microbial genomes.

3/9 Influenza Virus Resource The Influenza Virus Resource enables comparison of influenza virus strains and provides a reference for viral sequences. The resource contains data from the NIAID Influenza Genome Sequencing Project and GenBank, as well as pre-computed alignments of flu sequences.

3/1 CCDS The new Consensus CoDing Sequence (CCDS) project is a collaborative effort to identify a core set of human protein coding regions that are consistently annotated and of high quality.

2/2 My NCBI The new My NCBI has replaced the Cubby and includes automatic e-mailing of updates and filtering of search results. A tab format is used for features such as Limits and diplaying filtered search results.

1/18 Entrez Genome Project The Entrez Genome Project database is a searchable collection of large-scale genome sequencing, assembly, annotation, and mapping projects for cellular organisms with organism-specific overviews functioning as portals for browsing and retrieval.
