12/10 Rat Map Viewer Explore the rat genome with NCBI's Rat Map Viewer, which displays multiple genetic and radiation hybrid maps provided by the rat research community.

11/07 HomoloGene has plants The HomoloGene tool has added Plant Homologs for thale cress, barley, wheat, maize, and rice.

10/18 Plant Genomes Central New Plant Genomes Central provides access to data from large-scale plant genomic and EST sequencing projects, with links to corresponding taxonomic information. Mapping data are available for a growing number of plant genomes using Map Viewer.

10/01 Books Books from the NCBI Bookshelf can be searched directly or accessed via phrases in PubMed abstracts by clicking on the "Books" link from the citation.

09/27 Human-Mouse Homology Maps New Human–Mouse Homology Maps are now available for comparative mapping. Navigate between the human and mouse genomes using NCBI's new FLASH homology browser, which links to numerous mapping resources and a view of sequence alignments.

08/28 ProbeSet ProbeSet provides an Entrez view of NCBI's Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), a gene expression and hybridization array repository. ProbeSet is intended to facilitate powerful searching on the GEO database and links the search results to internal and external resources where possible.

08/03 Zebrafish Map Viewer Explore the zebrafish genome with NCBI's new Zebrafish Map Viewer, which displays multiple genetic and radiation hybrid maps provided by the zebrafish research community.

06/19 SKY/CGH Database NCBI's Spectral Karyotyping and Comparative Genomic Hybridization Database is a repository of publicly submitted data obtained through complementary fluorescent molecular cytogenetic techniques: SKY and CGH. SKY facilitates identification of chromosomal observations; CGH can be used to generate a map of DNA copy number changes in tumor genomes.

05/11 Mirror FTP Site Another mirror site containing the latest GenBank full release and daily update data is being offered by the Bio-Mirror project.

04/26 Human BAC Resource The new Human BAC Resource is a cytogenetic resource of large-insert, FISH-mapped clones containing sequence-tagged sites. The resource helps integrate cytogenetic, radiation-hybrid, linkage, and sequence maps of the human genome and contains links to clone distributors.

02/23 CDART When given a protein query sequence, NCBI's new  Conserved Domain Architecture Retrieval Tool (CDART) displays the functional domains that make up the protein and lists proteins with similar domain architectures.

02/09 Updated Human Genome Resources Page The Human Genome Resources Page now includes links to all of NCBI's human genome-related resources from Human Genome BLAST to the Map Viewer, dbSNP, and the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO).

02/01 Trace Archives NCBI now offers access to raw genome sequence data via the Trace Archives and will exchange data regularly with the Ensembl Trace Server. Currently, the archive contains whole genome shotgun reads from mouse and rat, with the addition of data from other large-scale sequencing projects planned.

01/28 LocusLink Features An array of new LocusLink features include annotation based on title lines from Proteome, Inc., for human genes, GO terms for human, mouse, and Drosophila genomes, and domain names from CDD-based analysis of RefSeq proteins. Access to protein-specific information has also been enhanced by BLink and an explicit link to Entrez Protein. LocusLink also provides one of the windows into NCBI's annotation of the human genome, with connections to MapViewer, the graphical sequence viewer, and AceView. Also, more links to HomoloGene, and links from mouse or human genes to NCBI's computed Human-Mouse Homology Maps have recently been added.

01/26 BLAST Package The new BLAST site features search-specific forms, the ability to construct a custom database on the fly, new output options, and a stable BLAST URL syntax that allows users to create custom search pages. MegaBLAST permits searching with batches of ESTs or with large cDNA or genomic sequences. Human Genome BLAST now searches the NCBI assembly of draft human genome and displays the genomic-context BLAST hits in MapViewer.

01/01 Mirror FTP Site The latest GenBank full release and daily update data are now available for download at a mirror site provided by the San Diego Supercomputer Center.
